Together with local actors and partners, DI seeks durable solutions from the onset of emergencies through protracted crises, empowering local leadership in response, recovery, and development processes. We promote participation, social cohesion, and economic empowerment through locally led, rights-based advocacy and targeted capacity-building initiatives. Rights awareness education and reference to core international conventions and human rights frameworks serve as essential tools to strengthen the ability of rights holders to hold duty bearers accountable. This includes extending human rights-based approaches into emergency settings, recognizing the fundamental right of crisis-affected people to protection, assistance, and justice.
