Humanitarian Actions

Saving lives, protecting rights, and restoring dignity in times of crisis.

A major cause of the rise of emergencies worldwide is the increase in natural disasters due to climate change and the growing number of armed conflicts. The DI’s humanitarian actions is based on rapid response ensuring that life-saving assistance reaches those in need without delay during disasters, wars, droughts, food shortages, and disease outbreaks. Recovery, Reconstruction and prevention are key aspects of our emergency aid.

In the initial phase, we primarily provide what’s needed for survival, and support local communities in recovering from the crisis. We build capacity of the communities to prevent new natural disasters or conflicts from leading to another crisis. Therefore, we help communities prevent and/or prepare for future disasters, including through peacebuilding, climate-resilient actions and self-help groups. DI responds to the unique needs of refugees and displaced populations by developing innovative programs that serve those resettled in urban areas as well as those living in refugee settlements, ensuring protection, inclusion, and sustainable support.
